According to multiple reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin made U.S. President Donald Trump wait an hour before their scheduled phone call on Tuesday, March 18. The call was supposed to begin between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Russian time, but Putin was seen speaking to industrialists and businessmen at an annual event in Moscow.
At around 4 p.m., the event host reminded Putin that he was getting late for the call, but he shrugged it off and continued speaking. Putin finally reached the Kremlin around 5 p.m., an hour after the call was supposed to begin.
The incident has been widely reported in the media, with many outlets speculating that it was a deliberate power play by Putin. Social media users have also reacted strongly to the news, with some calling it a “humiliation” of Donald Trump.
Despite the delay, Trump spoke positively about the conversation, saying that it lasted almost two hours and that they had discussed a lot of things, including how to achieve peace in Ukraine.
